The Bow Horn Bay Volunteer Fire Department is comprised of the Fire Chief, an Assistant Chief, a Deputy Chief, one Training Officer, one Lieutenant, three Captains, 11 Firefighters, and two Support & Logistics personnel. Several of our members are also Medical First Responders, and most are trained in Low Angle Rescue. Every year all members take part in Forestry Wildfire Training as well.

As a minimum, all of our Firefighters are trained to NFPA 1001 standards for Firefighters Professional Qualifications. Our medical first responders are trained to the requirements of Emergency Medical Assistant First Responder Level 3, including Spinal Immobilization, CPR, and AED.

Volunteering with the Bow Horn Bay Volunteer Fire Department is a great way to learn new skills and give back to your community. We accept members between the ages of 16-18 for our Cadet Firefighter Training Program and members age 18+ for our Recruit Firefighter Training Program. We are always in need of those willing to learn and are not afraid of hard work in challenging and potentially hazardous situations. In addition to firefighting training, we also train in Low Angle Rescue, Medical First Responder, and Motor Vehicle Extrication. If you have wanted to be a part of the Fire Department but thought your age or abilities were not up to the task, we still need you. We need vehicle drivers, pump operators, and help with support and logistics.
